The Team

James Hutchison
Set up The Rugby Blog in June 2007 dreaming of being a rugby journalist, but without really expecting the site to go anywhere. It’s debatable whether the journalist bit is working out, but the site continues to grow. Being half English and half Irish has its benefits as a rugby supporter – he proudly celebrated in Sydney in 2003, but was just as loud when Ireland won the Six Nations Grand Slam in 2009. Hutch is now involved in SportGuru and SportGuru when he’s not watching rugby or playing golf. Follow @TheRugbyBlog and @Hutch_James

Ben Coles
Now a freelance rugby writer and Editor of the website, Ben joined The Rugby Blog at the start of the 2010/11 season when still a student after being disgusted with a predicted pre-season finish for London Irish published on the site. Another half-English half-Irish member of the team, his favourite rugby moments are undoubtedly the Grand Slam win for Ireland in 2009, and London Irish winning their only ever professional trophy in the Powergen Cup final in 2002. He has done work for the Telegraph, BBC 5Live and Guinness, and regularly appears as a rugby expert on Sports Tonight TV. Follow @bencolesTRB

Tom James
Fresh from graduating in July, Tom decided that the best way to cope with the unfamiliar 9-5 was to give himself more work to do. But with aspirations of a career in journalism and a huge passion for the sport, he very much enjoys spending time writing articles and taking ad-hoc interviews. A habit for supporting more lowly teams leaves Tom fully-equipped to cope with disappointment and also pretty impartial on club-related matters. But with an English Six Nations triumph coinciding with him joining the site, England fan Tom hopes that he can continue to be something of a lucky omen, and he’ll be more than happy to write about it. Stuart Peel
According to Stu, he probably could have been a professional rugby player, but chose to go down the accountancy route instead. Our resident statto now plays for London Scottish and when he’s not counting beans, loves to rant about sport to anyone within earshot. Despite being told that nobody reads internet articles if they are more than 500 words, he still loves to crack out a 1,200-word whinge and they always go down well with a cup of tea in the office.
