Specialist sevens side ULR Samurai claimed their first-ever Middlesex Sevens title at Twickenham this weekend, beating London Irish in a repeat of last year’s final.
The Exiles squad that won the event last year boasted three Armitage brothers as well as England scrum-half Paul Hodgson, but Mike Friday’s squad also contained some famous names from the world sevens circuit, and they prevailed 15-12.

Gutted to have missed this – was the quality as high as the squad lineups suggested? I guess it wasn’t the same players in the Samurai team that have been competing in the national series, was it?
