What about un-noticed Marler (Quins).These days he is never out propped, he’s a frequent, powerful carrier, wins ball at the breakdown, tackles like a brike wall, works hard. As well as being good around the field he is a real old grinder (there’s not many left.

I voted for Mike Brown. Before Christmas, he was the standout player in the league by a long long way. Since being called up by England, he hasn’t had as much game time, but his Autumn form alone should win him this award.

Jonny May is a good shout, Lee Dickson might be worth a mention, as well as Tom Waldrom and Steve Mafi at the Tigers.

Pisi must have been pretty close to the list but if I was going to name any Saints player then it would be Roger Wilson. Most consistent and dedicated player to pull on a Saints shirt since he joined and will be sorely missed by the club. His impact is arguably the same with Saints as James Scaysbrook at Exeter.

I’d also pick Steve Mafi over Julian Salvi too. Would be interested to see the discovery of the season list, is that out yet?

Brown and Robshaw just ahead of Scaysbrook for me, with Barrit not far behind.

I struggle to see why Wood is in there to be frank; way too many penalties conceded for me. In Salvi, I’m not sure they have the right Leicester man either.

I’m not saying Flood deserves player of the season, he doesn’t. But i would dispute that he has had “rotten form for a large chunk of the season”. It was being away with England and then injury that has made his season faulter apart from the odd bad game.

I think Wade being injured for a while and Flood being in rotten form for a large chunk of the season is why they haven’t made the list. All those selected have been excellent nearly everytime they have stepped on the pitch. For me though it has to be Robshaw. Even when Quins have been going backwards he hasn’t.
