The south barbarians side consists of players from the southern parts of SA who competed in the B section of the currie cup last year. The northern barbarians consists of players from the Pumas and Leopards. The last mentioned sides played in the A section of the CC last year but finished last on the log. The southern barbarians are mostly made up from the EP Kings and Boland, the teams that contested the final of the B-section last year. The northern side should be a bit stronger but England should beat both these teams easily.

Completely agree. Think it would be a good idea to offer a couple of midweek fixtures for touring parties during the AIs as well as Saxons hardly get any fixtures now and I think it's important to keep giving the development players a representative challenge.

I think this is great. Its about time proper (ish) tours were re-introduced

Players who might not get game time otherwise will play what will probably be some quite challenging (not to say bruising) matches. It can only be good for their development

Just hope England actually win!

How about this for a team for the mid-week matches...

Doran-Jones
Youngs
Mullan
Palmer
Kitchener
Haskell
Fearns
Waldrom
Youngs
Hodgson
Allen
Lowe
Monye
Wade
Goode

This makes these tests quite an unknown. Currie cup is still a good standard but England should be very disappointed if they don't win these games if the players aren't super 14 standard.
