Four England players released back to clubs

Four of the recently-announced England Squad for the Autumn Internationals have been released back to their clubs this evening, so that they can take part in preparations for Guinness Premiership games this weekend.

Steffon Armitage, Ben Kay, David Strettle and Richard Blaze have been deemed surplus to requirements already, and it’s expected that more players will be released after training tomorrow.

This is the first clue as to the starting line-up that Johnson has in his head, although Blaze and Kay have apparently been released to ‘get more game time’, and I’d imagine that Armitage is feeling pretty annoyed this evening.

  1. Tommy says:

Why include players, then release them immediately? And with Rees out, Armitage is our best no. 7, but guessing that means that Moody will be starting there instead

  2. James says:

David Barnes, Mike Tindall and Joe Worsley were also released at the end of the day yesterday.

Does this mean Hipkiss is being lined up to start??
