England set to host Rugby World Cup in 2015

England is likely to be chosen to host the Rugby World Cup in 2015, giving them a great chance to successfully defend their title on home soil.

I’m getting slightly ahead of myself, but you never know. The final decision will be made on 28th July, but England has been backed by Rugby World Cup Limited, and of course, England will need to win in 2011 in New Zealand in order to have a title to defend.

Regardless, this is great news for England and for the sport as a whole, whose coffers will be filled by a very lucrative event, with matches to be played at Twickenham, Wembley, Old Trafford and the Emirates.

Further good news is that Japan is likely to be chosen to host the event in 2019, which will give that area of the world the opportunity to develop (more so than hosting the final of the Bledisloe Cup).

Let me know your thoughts? Is a World Cup in England a good idea? Or are you of the opinion that the London 2012 Olympics is going to be a disaster?

I most certainly am not, and cannot wait for this wondrous event to arrive on our doorstep.
